When applicable, the recorded score is capped at a goal difference of five.

Divisions

Grading and Placement Games

Teams may play between one and three placement games at the start of a season. These games count toward the minimum number of games in the season. Placement takes into account the result, the margin of victory, the difficulty of the matchup, team composition, and other factors used to seed each team into the most appropriate division.

Relegation and Promotion

Mississauga Soccer League may promote or relegate teams during the season to keep divisions balanced.

Standings Tie-Break Rule

Ties in the standings are broken in this order:

Playoff Format and Rules

The exact playoff format depends on the number of registrations, the composition of the divisions, and the length of the season.

Playoff halves are 23 minutes.
If a playoff game is tied at the end of regulation, the winner is decided by penalty kicks.
In the first round of penalty kicks, each team selects three kickers.
If still tied, subsequent rounds alternate one kicker from each team until there is a winner.
Only players who are on the field at the end of regulation are eligible to take a penalty kick.
No player may take a second kick before every eligible player on their team has taken one.

Coed Penalty Kicks

The initial three kickers must include at least one female player.
If kicks continue beyond the first round, a two-men-to-one-woman ratio must be maintained.
